ZebraByte Device Agent Commands

It refers to eachzebrabyte-device-agent CLI command, including installation, uninstallation, execution, status, collection and update, along with flags and expected results.

probo-agent is the CLI for installing, running, inspecting and updating the device posture agent.

Global flag:

Flag Description
-d, --dir Agent config/keystore directory (default to platform-specific path)

install

Register this device and install the agent as a Managed OS service.

Flag Description
--server the platform server base URL (required)
--enrollment-token Single entry token (or PROBO_ENROLLMENT_TOKEN)
--skip-service Register the device, but proceed from OS service installation
--no-auto-update Persist updates_disabled in configuration and skip upgrades automatically

Upon success, the command prints the device ID configured plus heartbeat intervals and posture.

uninstall

Turn off the service, turn off the device registration on the platform, remove the auto-start from the pad when it is present, and delete the local status.

In macOS, uninstalling requires root (sudo).

run

Useful for debugging; production installations normally run under the OS service supervisor.

status

Print the agent’s local state.

Example fields:

  • Server URL
  • Device ID
  • Heartbeat interval
  • Posture interval
  • Update interval
  • Auto-update enabled
  • If a key is present on the disk
  • Config directory

collect

Section entitled ‘collect’

Run the posture check set once and print the results without pushing them to the server.

Flag Description
--json Emit JSON instead of a table
--print-dir Print the Resolved Agent directory before the results
--once Run a date and go out (default true)

Update

Section entitled “Updates”

Check out GitHubReleases for a newer tag probo-agent/v* and install it instead.

Flag Description
--check Report if an update is available without installing it

After a successful update, restart the OS service (or let the supervisor restart after the agent retires with its dedicated restart code).

Enrollment paths

Section entitled “Enrollment paths”
  • macOS: Install the signature .pkg, then record from the platform console via the Probo Agent.app / probo:// deeplink. macOS.
  • Windows: install the signature .msi, then sign up from the platform console via the board. Windows.
  • Linux: Record with install.sh or probo-agent install. Linux.
  • FreeBSD: Sign up with ___ZBT_I18N_RUNTIME_BLOCK_202__ or ___ZBT_I18N_RUNTIME_BLOCK_203__. FreeBSD.
